Windows Minimum Requirements (Official)

Mac and Linux Minimums

The Mac floor is macOS Big Sur 11 or newer, with an Apple M1 or Intel 9750H processor, 8 GB of RAM, the same GeForce GTX 670 / Radeon HD 7970 graphics entry and 2 GB of storage. The Linux floor is Ubuntu 22.04 or newer with the same i7-8700 or Ryzen 1600 processor, 8 GB of RAM, the same graphics entry and 2 GB of storage. In other words, the CPU and graphics targets are consistent across all three platforms, and memory is 8 GB everywhere.

One quirk worth naming: both the Mac and Linux blocks list discrete GeForce and Radeon cards as the graphics minimum, which is a common copy-paste artifact in small-studio listings. Treat the 8 GB and the CPU entry as the meaningful numbers on those platforms, and test with the free demo rather than trusting the GPU line literally.

It Runs Almost Anywhere: The Hardware Reality

• Graphics: the GTX 670 and Radeon HD 7970 are 2012 cards. If your machine is a desktop built in the last decade, the GPU is unlikely to be your bottleneck.
• Memory is the requirement laptops miss: 8 GB is now the practical floor for a modern Windows install, and if you are on 8 GB with a browser open, that is the number to watch.
• Storage is a non-issue: 2 GB is smaller than most demos, and it is the same figure for the full game and for the free preview.
• The operating-system line is the real gate. Windows 10 version 21H1 is a specific build, so older Windows 10 installs need updating before launch day.
• DirectX 11 support is a safe assumption on any DX11-era card, but integrated-graphics laptops and machines from the Windows 7 era should be tested rather than assumed.
• Steam Deck and Proton compatibility has not been announced, so we do not claim it. The demo is free — that is the cheapest compatibility test available.

Why the Floor Looks Like This

The i7-8700 / Ryzen 1600 processor entry is the interesting one. Hull Rupture is a base-management roguelite where a fleet of modules runs continuously, humans move through decks, and waves pour into the hull while you plan — that is simulation logic running on the CPU, and simulation logic is where mid-range processors age fastest. A CPU floor that reaches into 2017-2018 silicon suggests fairly heavy tick-by-tick work on the ship rather than pure rendering.

The graphics floor tells the opposite story. A GTX 670 with DirectX 11 and a 2 GB install points at a 2D pixel-art presentation with modest memory pressure — the official screenshots show a side-on cutaway of the ship, lit rooms and clear UI panels rather than heavy 3D scenes. The upshot for builders of budget machines is that a decent processor plus 8 GB of memory matters more here than the graphics card.

Before You Buy: Test With the Demo

The free demo carries the same minimum spec block as the full release, which turns it into the most honest benchmark available: if the demo holds its frame rate during a crowded wave on your machine, the launch build almost certainly will. If it does not, you have lost nothing but an afternoon.

Two things are still missing from the public spec sheet. The recommended tier exists as a placeholder that repeats the 64-bit requirement and nothing more, and no Steam Deck verified status has been issued. We will update this page when either changes, and we will not fill the gap with invented recommended hardware in the meantime.
